St. Lawrence County Republicans Endorse Robert Smullen for Congress in NY-21
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, New York (February 20, 2026) – The St. Lawrence County Republican Committee voted Thursday night to endorse Assemblyman Robert Smullen for Congress in New York’s 21st District, adding to the growing momentum behind the campaign across the North Country and Upstate.
Smullen, a retired Marine Corps Colonel and combat veteran, thanked the committee members for their support and confidence in his campaign.
“I am honored to have the support of the St. Lawrence County Republican Committee,” Smullen said. “The North Country understands what is at stake in this election. We need strong, conservative leadership in Washington that will secure our northern border, cut reckless spending, back our law enforcement officers, and put Upstate First. I am ready to take that fight to Congress.”
Smullen currently serves as Chairman of the Assembly Republican Conference and has represented the 118th Assembly District since being elected in 2018. In Albany, he has been a leading voice against one-party rule, fighting to protect constitutional rights, support small businesses, and defend public safety.
He was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to continue serving his country on the President’s Commission on White House Fellows and has pledged to work closely with President Trump to advance an America First agenda that strengthens border security, restores energy independence, and grows the Upstate economy.
With the support of St. Lawrence County Republicans, Smullen continues to consolidate support throughout NY-21. He is the presumptive nominee of the New York State Conservative Party and will appear on the ballot in November.
Smullen’s campaign has previously secured unanimous endorsements from the Essex County Republican Committee, Franklin County Republican Committee, Hamilton County Republican Committee, and the Washington County Republican Committee, as well as endorsements from the Warren County Republican Committee, the Warren County Conservative Party, the Fulton County Republican Committee, the Herkimer County Republican Committee, and the Oneida County Conservative Committee.
