Smullen Campaign Launches SmullenFactsvsLies.com to Set the Record Straight on Constantino's False Attacks
New website provides documented, point-by-point refutation of claims made in Constantino text messages
JOHNSTOWN, New York – The Robert Smullen for Congress campaign today announced the launch of SmullenFactsvsLies.com, a new website that provides voters with a documented, point-by-point response to the false and misleading claims lifelong Democrat Anthony Constantino has been spreading by text message and through his attack website.
Democrat Anthony Constantino's campaign has been sending text messages across NY-21 filled with distortions, half-truths, and outright lies about Robert Smullen's record. Rather than discuss the issues that matter to voters in the North Country, Mohawk Valley, and Adirondacks, Constantino has chosen to run a campaign built on personal attacks and misinformation.
"Lifelong Democrat Anthony Constantino has lied to the voters of NY-21 repeatedly, and voters deserve the truth," said Assemblyman Robert Smullen. "SmullenFactsvsLies.com gives voters the truth – documented, sourced, and in black and white. Every claim Democrat Anthony Constantino has made falls apart under even basic scrutiny. The voters of this district deserve facts, not fabrications from a self-funded candidate trying to buy his way into Congress."
The website addresses Constantino's false claims, including:
- His misleading characterization of a 2018 tax paperwork matter that was resolved and reduced to a violation – not a felony – while ignoring Constantino's own documented tax liens in three states totaling more than $14,000.
- His false claim that Robert refused to support President Trump, when Robert actually voted for President Trump in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Republican primaries and was appointed by the president in 2018. Constantino, by contrast, registered as a Democrat in 2018 and again in 2022 meaning he didn’t vote for President Trump in 2016 or 2020 Republican primaries. He also donated to Democrat Paul Tonko, who voted to impeach President Trump.
- His distorted attacks on Robert's Assembly voting record, including criticism of the Adult Survivors Act, a law that passed the Assembly 140–3 and gave survivors of sexual assault their day in court.
- His baseless conspiracy theory that Robert "secretly plotted" to primary Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, when Robert announced his candidacy only after Stefanik declared she would not seek re-election.
Robert Smullen served 24 years in the United States Marine Corps, completed three combat tours in Afghanistan, and retired as a Colonel. He currently serves as Chairman of the Assembly Republican Conference and is endorsed by the New York State Republican Party, the New York State Conservative Party, 12 of 15 Republican county committees in NY-21, and every Republican member of the New York State Assembly.
"I have spent my life serving this country and this community – in combat, in the state legislature, and in our neighborhoods," Smullen continued. "Lifelong Democrat Anthony Constantino has spent his money. That is the difference in this race. Voters can see the truth for themselves at
SmullenFactsvsLies.com."
