Jefferson County Republican Committee Unanimously Endorses Robert Smullen For Congress in NY-21
WATERTOWN, New York (February 25, 2026) – The Jefferson County Republican Committee voted Tuesday night to unanimously endorse Assemblyman Robert Smullen in his campaign for Congress in New York’s 21st Congressional District, adding to the growing coalition of Republican and Conservative Party support behind his candidacy.
Smullen has earned the endorsement of 11 of 15 county Republican committees in the 21st Congressional District representing more than 60% of the Republican weighted vote.
Smullen, a retired Marine Corps Colonel and Chairman of the Assembly Republican Conference, thanked the committee members for their confidence and support.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Jefferson County Republican Committee,” Smullen said. “Jefferson County is home to Fort Drum, thousands of veterans and military families, hardworking small businesses, and proud North Country communities. In Congress, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with President Trump and his America First agenda. I will always fight to secure our border, strengthen our national defense, back our law enforcement officers, and put Upstate First.”
Smullen served 24 years in the United States Marine Corps, including three combat tours in Afghanistan. He was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to continue serving his country on the President’s Commission on White House Fellows and has represented the Mohawk Valley and surrounding communities in the State Assembly since 2019.
As a legislator, Smullen has consistently opposed one-party rule in Albany, defended the Second Amendment, supported law enforcement, and advanced policies aimed at lowering taxes and growing the Upstate economy.
With the unanimous endorsement from Jefferson County, Smullen continues to consolidate support throughout the North Country and across Upstate New York.
Smullen is the presumptive nominee of the New York State Conservative Party and will appear on the ballot in November. He has earned the endorsement of the New York State Conservative Party, the Essex County Conservative Party, the Essex County Republican Committee, the Franklin County Republican Committee, the Fulton County Republican Committee, the Hamilton County Republican Committee, the Herkimer County Conservative Committee, the Lewis County Republican Committee, the Oneida County Conservative Committee, the Schoharie County Republican Committee, the St. Lawrence County Conservative Party, the St. Lawrence County Republican Committee, the Warren County Conservative Committee, the Warren County Republican Committee, and the Washington County Republican Committee.
