Herkimer County Legislature Unanimously Endorses Robert Smullen for Congress

HERKIMER COUNTY, New York (January 23, 2026) – This week, the Herkimer County Legislature’s 16 members of the Republican Caucus unanimously endorsed Assemblyman Robert Smullen’s campaign for Congress in New York’s 21st Congressional District, marking another major show of support from local elected leaders across the district.

The unanimous vote reflects broad confidence in Smullen’s leadership and record of delivering for Upstate New York. Legislators cited his consistent advocacy for local communities, economic growth in the Mohawk Valley, and unwavering defense of constitutional rights as key reasons for their support.

Smullen, a retired Marine Corps Colonel and current Assemblyman, has built a reputation as a principled conservative and effective legislator with deep roots in the region and a results-driven approach to public service.

“I am deeply honored to receive the unanimous endorsement of the Herkimer County Legislature,” Smullen said. “Support from local leaders who understand the challenges facing our communities reinforces why this campaign is about putting Upstate First. I will take that same mindset to Congress and fight relentlessly for the people of NY-21.”

The Herkimer County endorsement adds to Smullen’s growing list of unanimous endorsements from Republican committees in Essex, Franklin, and Hamilton counties, as well as the unanimous endorsement of the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors. Smullen has also earned the support of dozens of elected state and local leaders across the district and the Warren County Conservative Party.

With momentum continuing to build county by county, Smullen’s campaign is consolidating support among grassroots Republicans, local officials, and voters looking for a battle-tested, America First conservative to represent Upstate New York in Congress.
